Program Overview:
The Billingslea Recovery Residence is a long-term residential facility that provides a supportive, alcohol- and drug-free environment in a community setting. This program enhances an alternately funded detoxification service and offers residential support for approximately six to twelve months. Services are provided to adult males, ages 21 to 65, who are experiencing substance use disorders and reside in Bibb, Jones, Monroe, and Twiggs counties.
Position Overview:
The Recovery Support Counselor provides direct support and assistance to individuals receiving behavioral health and/or substance use services. This position focuses on helping individuals achieve and maintain recovery, improve daily functioning, and increase independence within the community. The Recovery Support Counselor works closely with clinical staff and other team members to implement treatment plans, promote recovery-oriented practices, and provide encouragement and guidance to clients.
This role supports individuals in developing effective coping strategies, strengthening life skills, and accessing community resources that promote long-term recovery and stability. The position requires compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting individuals throughout their recovery journey while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Location/Schedule:
- 1243 First Avenue, Macon, GA Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Weekends and holidays off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychosocial support to individuals coping with substance use disorders and mental health challenges under close supervision.
- Facilitate group activities that promote therapeutic engagement and positive group dynamics.
- Provide education, crisis intervention, skills-based training, and counseling services as appropriate.
- Assist in developing counseling and educational services that meet the individual needs of clients served.
- Participate in substance abuse training and provide feedback to staff when appropriate to support service delivery.
- Provide daily support, structure, and supervision to individuals receiving services.
- Assist clients with developing independent living skills and effective coping strategies.
- Support recovery-oriented activities and individualized treatment goals.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a behavioral health field required.
- Georgia licensure preferred: LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
- Associate licenses accepted: LMSW, LAPC, or LAMFT.
- Recent graduates with a master’s degree in a behavioral health field are encouraged to apply.
- CACII or CADCII/CCS certification preferred, or willingness to work toward a Provisional CCIT (Certified Counselor in Training) credential.
