Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), ensuring high-quality, person-centered care that promotes health, safety, and independence. The RN supports clients across residential and/or community-based settings by coordinating medical care, monitoring health conditions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet individualized needs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, supporting direct care staff through training and guidance, and serving as a clinical resource for clients, families, and providers.

Location/Schedule - 1239 Orchard Hill Road Milledgeville, GA 31061 Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers to patients in the crisis facility.
  • Conduct initial patient assessments to determine the nature, severity, and urgency of needs during a crisis.
  • Provide oversight for LPN staff, including reviewing and signing off documentation weekly, creating and training staff on Health Care Plans, and monitoring medication management practices.
  • Regularly assess and document patients’ vital signs to monitor stability and identify any changes indicating a potential decline in condition.
  • Treat and dress wounds, injuries, and other physical health issues that arise during crisis situations.
  • Assist in managing and de-escalating crises by applying medical knowledge, clinical judgment, and crisis-intervention techniques to support patients in distress.
  • Ensure that staff are properly trained and competent in their assigned clinical responsibilities.
  • Participate in crisis interventions, assess patient needs, provide clinical guidance to staff, and help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Qualifications Needed (education and/or experience):
  • Must have active Georgia RN license.
  • At least 2 years working in behavioral health/ intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) or related field.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Communications skills and the ability to foster good relationships among others is a plus.
  • Preferred IDD experience.
